BACKSTORY

Describe their childhood (newborn - age 10):  She had a very normal childhood.  She was a very shy and sweet girl, and everyone loved her.  She had a good amount of friends, and didn't worry about much.

There was a certain girl in her fifth grade class, though, that seemed to catch her attention.  This girl was notorious for going around and kissing girls or holding hands with them or things like that.  Leslie slowly gained a crush on this loud, friendly, and cool girl.

She accidentally told her parents that she had gained a crush on a girl, but her parents were very supportive of her, luckily.  

Describe their teenage years (11 - 19):  Her feelings for Kelly-Jo didn't change, even though they only had a few classes together.  She secretly watched her and began to fall in love.

On her thirteenth birthday, Kelly-Jo came up to her after school, gave her bunny, and admitted to having a huge crush on her since they were in fifth grade.  Leslie accepted the bunny, and Kelly-Jo as her girlfriend.  They were together.

Leslie was scared of having sex, so she tried to avoid it.  She allowed some stuff to be done, but never having anything inside.  

Just a month later, her grandfather was diagnosed with cancer.  Her parents decided to move up to Oregon very quickly, wanting to be there for him.  Leslie was forced to break up with Kelly-Jo, despite the fact that she had fallen in love with her.

Because she had no cell phone and she hadn't been particularly caring about the internet, she had absolutely no way of contacting Kelly-Jo.  She had very suddenly lost the person she cared about most.
